Known for his lightheartedness, quirky sense of humor, exceptional rock-skipping abilities, passion for Chicago’s restaurants, attention to detail, and dreadful singing, Dr. Krochmal prides himself on providing personalized, compassionate, concierge-level service to all of his patients.
A Michigan native, Dr. Krochmal graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School, and did his General Surgery Residency at Mayo Clinic Arizona. He then completed his Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then trained at the world-renowned Hunstad Kortesis Center in Charlotte where he learned advanced body contouring, breast, and facial aesthetic procedures.
Dr. Krochmal is Board Certified in both Plastic Surgery and General Surgery. He is a member of prestigious organizations such as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and The Aesthetic Society (formerly known as the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery or ASAPS), and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is dedicated to his patients, and sits on the Health Policy and the Legislative Advocacy Committees for ASPS (and is currently the Vice Chair of Patient Safety). He is also the Vice President of the Illinois Society of Plastic Surgeons (ISPS).
He continues to be an active researcher to further the field of plastic surgery, and is engaged in projects involving DVT (blood clot) reduction following abdominoplasty, safety in buttocks fat grafting procedures, and outcomes for large volume liposuction for lipedema.
In addition to exploring restaurants, Dr. Krochmal enjoys painting, biking, golfing, spoiling his nephews, and explaining how to pronounce his last name (it’s like a “CROCodile” and a “shopping MALL”).

With a strong foundation in clinical and aesthetic Dermatology, Bansi brings both clinical knowledge and genuine care to every patient she meets. She supports the team by caring for patients before and after their procedures, and also coordinates the surgical scheduling. “I just want to make sure patients feel informed, comfortable, and confident every step of the way!”.
Born and raised in Sunny Tampa, Florida, she graduated from the University of Florida, earned her Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Barry University, and then obtained her SECOND Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at South University in West Palm Beach. “I wanted to utilize my procedural skills in a field that beautifully blends artistry and medicine, so Plastic Surgery seemed like a great fit.” We somehow convinced her to move from Florida to Chicago to join our practice and pursue her passion.
When she’s not in the office, you’ll probably find Bansi exploring Chicago through food and thrifting, spending time with family and friends, and crocheting something cozy and warm to survive winter.
If you’re interested in taking your skin health to the next level, then look no further! With over six years of experience in Dermatology, Charisa is our Licensed Esthetician here at The Krochmal Center for Plastic Surgery. “I want every patient to achieve radiant, healthy skin to make them more confident.” While she’s “results driven”, her approachable nature and sense of humor make every treatment session a phenomenal experience!
Her dermatology background has been instrumental in shaping her current practice. She developed an in-depth understanding of skin conditions, inflammation, scarring, aging, and the science behind effective treatments for skin health and appearance. “I don’t just treat the skin surface. I understand the skin on a cellular level and how to guide it back to health.”
She specializes in Sciton BBL laser treatments, laser hair removal, microneedling, chemical peels, HydraFacial, Glo2Facial, and Emsculpt Neo muscle strengthening.
She enjoys baking, and prides herself on sharing the same attention to detail both in the kitchen and in her aesthetics craft.
Loren joins us with decades of experience helping men and women improve their confidence. He has worked alongside the giants in the field of Hair Restoration, and brings an incredible amount of expertise to create a very individualized experience for each of our patients. Whether it’s slowing down time by filling in that receding hairline, restoring those overplucked eyebrows, or making that beard thicker, he is always willing to talk with you about how to accomplish your goals.
Having undergone hair restoration procedures over 30 years ago, Loren is living proof that it works beautifully and lasts a lifetime! Since then he has worked tirelessly to train physicians and technicians in the art and science of Hair Restoration. He specializes in the psychology of hair loss, and how it emotionally affects men and women in all ages. He follows Dr. Krochmal’s philosophy on “quality over quantity” with regard to patient care, and offering concierge level care to all of his patients (vs. operating a “hair factory”). He firmly believes that by treating only one patient per day, we can offer them only the best technicians and equipment, as well as our undivided attention during the procedure.
Loren’s life changed when he was able to grow his hair back. When you meet him, you’ll understand why patients have trusted him for decades, and come from across the country to see him.
Rachelle is often the first person you will meet at our practice, whether it’s her warm voice on the phone or her welcoming smile at the door (with a warm towel and a beverage, of course). With more than 15 years of experience in medical office administration, primarily in Ophthalmology and Cosmetic Dermatology, she brings extensive knowledge of office operations, scheduling, and patient services. Her attention to detail keeps the practice running smoothly, ensuring every patient experience is seamless from start to finish.
Rachelle’s ability to create an environment where patients feel cared for is simply incredible. And we are glad she’s chosen our practice to do that! “I have always had keen interest in Plastic Surgery. Seeing the amazing transformations that come with it — I wanted to be a part of something beautiful.” She thrives on building lasting patient relationships and finds it deeply rewarding to see confidence gained through the surgical and nonsurgical treatments we offer. “I’m thrilled to be a part of this incredible team!”
Outside of work, she enjoys biking, nature walks, cooking, hosting dinner parties, and routinely beating Dr. Krochmal at dominoes (she’s really good at that game).
Joy, our Jura E8, joined our practice in 2022. Although she has roots in Switzerland, Joy was born in Portugal and emigrated to the United States soon afterwards. Dr. Krochmal interviewed quite a few applicants for the position, but it was Joy’s work ethic, consistency, variety of offerings, personality (she extols “Enjoy” after each cup made), and relatively low maintenance that made her stand out from the crowd. She is a vital member of our team and definitely keeps us going!
Joy is a bit of a homebody so she doesn’t get out too much. When she isn’t making a delicious cup of espresso/flat white/cappuccino/Americano/etc., she enjoys taking naps (power saving mode) and self-cleaning at seemingly random times.
